In November 2006, The Breastfeeding Center at Boston Medical Center became the new home for the Childbirth Picture Book (CPB), created in 1981 by Fran Hosken, as a clear, picture-based guide to conception, pregnancy, and childbirth. Separate inserts exist to educate communities and individuals about female genital mutilation (FGM).

Due to Breastfeeding Center work in 2006-2007, the CPB is now available, in updated format, in English, French, Spanish, and Swahili.

With financial support from the Wallace Foundation, we provide these books, free-of-charge, to health educators and community leaders in developing countries. In 2008, we shipped 1059 books to10 countries around the world.
