Welcome to the Home Page of the Breastfeeding Center at Boston Medical Center

This part of the Division of General Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center, is one of the most prominent breastfeeding research and advocacy centers in the US. Supported 100% by research funding, the Breastfeeding Center is involved in many ongoing studies, and has a solid track record of published research in the medical literature. The Center works together with the clinical lactation team at BMC, Massachusetts' first Baby-Friendly hospital, and with academic affiliates at the Boston University Schools of Medicine and Public Health.

The Clinical Breastfeeding Service at BMC: The service provides 7-day a week lactation care by IBCLC certified lactation consultants. Links to BMC breastfeeding classes and other information for patients and breastfeeding families are available via the links on this site.
